Dear --name--
As we write today in Florida, it is after the terrible twisters that hit the central part of the State. So many that survived are without their homes. Many have lost loved ones. None of us knows the complexities of our days, or the length of them. Our thoughts and prayers are with those of you who are in need of comfort or help. Many of whom we have met, are in our prayers for special concerns. Some of you are experiencing bitter cold temperatures. Please stay warm and make yourself a cup of hot cocoa when you finish our newsletter.
It seems as if every time we write a newsletter, some tragedy has occurred in our nation. We have a word of encouragement – the Creator God of the universe has a special plan for each one of us, the most important being a personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. His birth is what our Christmas celebration is all about.
At the end of ’06, in between book signings in Indianapolis, Louisville, Nashville, and eleven cities in Florida, we had a chance to see the movie “The Nativity Story,” a wonderful revelation of what it might have been like for Mary and Joseph thousands of years ago as they waited for Christ to be born. It is worth seeing and will inspire you.
As we write our third novel, we so enjoy hearing from you who have read Facing Justice and/or Confirming Justice. When you tell us what you like about the books or characters, it helps us to create. We also urge those of you who are in book clubs, to consider reading our books as a group as we make book club appearances. Also, we meet with other clubs via speaker telephones.
Many readers ask us if our writing is influenced by what happens in the news. On a sad note, former President Gerald Ford died the day after we had written a line about him for our next novel to the effect he was the sole surviving member of the Warren Commission that investigated the death of President John F. Kennedy. Our former Congressman, Gerald Ford truly was the humble man the pundits said he was. It is our hope that the focus on his faith in God and his caring character will serve to bring Americans together in the coming days.
His death required us to change a small part of how we referred to the Kennedy assassination, which is slated to appear in our third book. It is our hope to shed new light on the investigation of the assassination, to which David was exposed early in his career. Keep watching our website and our newsletters to learn more and when our third novel will be released. It should be in book stores and at “dot com” book dealers by fall.
To all our readers in Crystal River, where FBI agent Griff Topping gets involved with international drug smugglers in Confirming Justice, it was such a privilege to meet you and speak at your library. The role play we did to give you all an idea of what a conspiracy is like, was fun. Thanks to the Citrus County Chronicle and St. Petersburg Times for the nice articles about us, and also to the Tampa Tribune’s Hernando Today for the write-up before our appearance at the Citrus and Hernando County libraries.
We just returned from several booksignings in Naples, FL and had a wonderful time meeting many new readers! What a fabulous part of our country. Can you feel the warmth and sunshine we are sending your way? It’s time to get back to our next novel, which is fun writing. Many of you want to see Eva and Griff again, and you will.
Take time to give thanks today!
Happy writing and reading, Diane and David
